Show 'N Go Bike Ride

  • June 29, 2019
  • 10:00 AM
  • Northwest Lancaster County River Trail

Cycle on the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail. Ride along the picturesque Susquehanna River. Enjoy the scenery and some notable points of interest – iron furnaces, an eagles nest, white cliffs of Conoy, Shock’s Mill Railroad Bridge, and an abandoned canal bed.

No need to RSVP -  Just “SHOW” up and be ready to “GO” by 10:00am!

We’ll be starting at the Riverfront Park Pavilion at 10:00am. Directions from Lancaster: Route 30 west to Columbia route 441 exit. Turn right and head north on route 441 for 5.5 miles, turn left onto Vinegar Ferry Road, continue under the railroad bridge, turn right to parking and the pavilion. Meet at the pavilion.

The flat, mostly wooded trail follows the Susquehanna River and is paved 5 miles from Riverfront Park to Bainbridge heading north, and from the Park heading south about  9 miles to Columbia and the Columbia Crossing River Trails Center. Heading south, you will pass by the infamous Chiques rock. Be sure to stop to look at the rock climbers. You can ride in either or both directions and ride as long as you want to. There are a couple of “job johnnies” along the trail and at each end.

We’ll gather afterwards around noon time or shortly thereafter for lunch and some well-earned beverages at McCleary’s Public House (Irish Pub) at 130 W. Front Street in Marietta.

NOTE:  Members of the “Email Riders” group (an ad hoc group of cyclists), will be riding with us, some of whom are LSC members. We have combined with them on previous “Show n’ Go” rides.
